date night on the lake

A co-worker of Clint's has a boat and has taken us out on a nearby lake a couple of times (in 2008 and in 2010). We got invited again last week and got to go out again! This time, there was two boats and several other teachers and their spouses came along. It was really fun! Here's some pics:

my surprise birthday getaway!

I celebrated my 39th birthday last Tuesday. We were down in South Georgia visiting Clint's parents for our spring break. Clint totally surprised me and took me away to a bed and breakfast in Cedar Key, Florida. It was the very first bed and breakfast we ever stayed in when we were newlyweds! I was so surprised! I didn't figure it out until we were almost there - it was about a 3 hour drive. He told me we were gonna go antiquing in some nearby towns. He secretly packed my makeup bag and a pair of pajamas. It was such a wonderful little birthday getaway for just the two of us. We loved every minute!! (and a special thanks to my sweet in-laws who watched the kiddos while we were away!!)

when we got back to robert and diane's house, all the kiddos were waiting with cards and a cake they helped grandma make. and leo even made me a crown to wear!

wordless wednesday - valentine

snowed in again!

Winter Storm Pax came to us on Tuesday morning, and we have been snowed in since. The last time I checked, we had over 6 inches of snow. We have never seen anything like this before!

Yesterday, Clint took the boys on a sledding adventure on a big hill behind our house. It was bitterly cold with sleeting rain. They are tough guys! :)

after they came inside from their adventure, leo was shivering on the couch. i came over to him and held him like this. he said, "thank you so much, mom! that's just what i wanted!"

i read by the fire in my flannel pajamas

and worked on a patchwork baby quilt

and sewed some little heart appliques on the quilt once i pieced it all together

and handstitched some holes together in my favorite vintage crocheted blanket 

a thick blanket of snow in the backyard

we have stayed in our pajamas for days

and built forts

and read some more books by the fire

and clint built a snowman :)
