new patchwork baby blanket

I made this patchwork baby quilt this morning for my booth next week. Isn't it cute?
(I had already cut the squares - I just needed to sew it together)

I LOVE all the pretty vintage fabrics in blues and greens!
I chose to put a super-soft cotton fabric for the backing. This blanket will be a perfect lightweight carseat/stroller/nursing cover/playmat for the spring and summer, don't you think?

And here's a picture of Clint and I in our front yard right before my birthday date last night.
(did you notice all the little new leaves on the tree?!)

*******************************************

I have to say, it was a bittersweet birthday. We found out about the bombings in Boston a few hours before our date. So much sorrow and pain in this world. It definitely makes you appreciate your loved ones and reminds you that life is fragile. We can only take one day at a time, we are not promised tomorrow.

I'm going to be hugging my kiddos extra tight today when they get home from school.

And I'm praying for the families of those that were affected by this tragedy. So very sad.
