looking up

I'm super excited to share with you guys a new necklace design that's in the shop now. I saw these adorable hot air balloon charms online a few weeks ago, and knew that I needed to get some. As I prayed about the necklace I would make incorporating the charm, the Lord reminded me of this scripture:

"Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." Colossians 3:2

And as I was making the necklace, the Lord gave me a picture of a hot air balloon, tethered to the ground by ropes and weighted down by bags of sand. I started meditating on that image. How we are like those hot air balloons. Designed to rise above, but so often weighted down, tethered to the ground, to the things of this world.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."  Hebrews 12:1

God has created us to rise. Rise above. Higher, so high.

To be free of all of the trappings of this world.
To rise up to the clouds.
To look up.
To set our minds on things above.

Jesus, give us the strength to let go of all of the "tethers" in our lives, those things that are keeping us grounded to the world. That hold us back from true life in the Spirit. Help us, Lord, to look up to You. To set our minds on things above, not on earthly things!
